Reps: Terrorists attacking sources of livelihood


Members of the House of Representatives on Thursday condemned Wednesday’s bomb attack on a popular business mall, EMAB Plaza, in the heart of Abuja.

Moving a kineticism on the assailment on EMAB Plaza, Mr. Chris Azubuogu, from Anambra State, observed that terrorists were now transmuting their tactics by targeting the source of living of struggling Nigerian youths.

He noted that apart from being a major hub for commercial activities, the plaza provided jobs for many youths.

At least 21 people lost their lives in the assailment, while 17 others were injured.

The House withal condemned a kindred attack, which occurred in a market in Mubi, Adamawa State, on the same day.

It withal drew the attention of security agencies to the incessant killings in components of Kaduna State, asking them to bring the situation under control.

Members resolved to observe a minute’s silence in accolade of the victims and to raise a delegation to visit their families.

In two other separate resolutions, the House urged the Federal Regime to immortalise the tardy Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, and the former Minister of Information and Communication, the tardy Prof. Dora Akunyili.

For Akunyili, who additionally accommodated as a former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, the House called on the regime to denominate the NAFDAC headquarters building in Abuja after her.

It integrated that a befitting national edifice should be designated after Bayero.
