Ekiti poll: Commission raises team to monitor police conduct


The Police Service Commission on Thursday verbalized it would be deploying a team to monitor the conduct of police personnel assigned to election obligations in Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
A verbal expression signed by the PSC’s Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, Ferdinand Ekpe, verbally expressed the move was to ascertain that police personnel adhered stringently to the rules of engagement guiding the conduct of the poll.
“This is in line with the Commission’s constitutional mandate of ascertaining discipline in the Force and additionally to ascertain that police officers on election obligations adhere stringently to the rules of engagement, which is to maintain placidity and security of lives and property.
“The delegation would be coordinated by three of its Commissioners; Hon. Justice Olufunmilola Adekeye, Dame Comfort Obi, and Chief (Dr.) Torngee Tor’ Anyiin predicated on the three senatorial districts,” the verbal expression integrated.
The Commission has provided three direct telephone contacts for each of the three senatorial districts to enable members of the public report incidences of malfeasance or act of gallantry by police officers and men on election obligations.
