FUNAAB VC tasks varsities on development


Nigerian universities have been advised to ascertain that their research pertain to the desiderata of the society.

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, gave this advice on Monday while unfolding programmes for the institution’s 21st and 22nd convocation. The ceremonies will hold on Friday and Saturday.

He challenged universities not to be content with just issuing certificates but to withal endeavour to impart skills that would make them more germane to the society.

Oyewole verbalized the university, through its institute for food security, environmental resources and agricultural research, had introduced two ameliorated varieties of ofada rice with high yield and nutritional advantage.

He verbally expressed, “More than ever afore, the university will perpetuate to strive harder and consolidate on its past achievements and strive for more preponderant heights in view of the desiderata of the nation.”
