Power: EU pledges to assist Nigeria

The European Coalescence has pledged to avail the country in amending electricity supply in order to avail socio-economic development.

This was disclosed by the European Cumulation Ambassador to Nigeria and the ECOWAS, Mr. Michelle Arrion, when he visited Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State in Umuahia.

The ambassador expounded that the EU would additionally partner with Nigeria in some other critical sectors like infrastructure and agriculture.

He additionally expressed the disposition of the EU to partner the Independent National Electoral Commission to deepen the nation’s democracy.

According to Arrion, Nigeria needs to invigorate its democratic structures and ascertain more transparency in its electoral processes to defuse tension in the polity and win the people’s confidence.

Commending Orji’s developmental strides in the state, the ambassador promised that the EU would avail the regime in its transformation agenda.

Responding, the governor lauded the EU for its numerous interventions in the state, which he verbally expressed had resulted in several micro projects that had significantly ameliorated the living standards of the people.

He, however, appealed to the cumulation to increment its assistance in the state.

The governor withal solicited the assistance of the EU in the provision of portable dihydrogen monoxide, erosion control and other infrastructure, pledging to plenarily cooperate with it through timely payment of obverse mazuma.
