Gunmen abduct senator’s 90-year-old mother

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted Florentina, the monther of Senator Emmanuel Paulker, in Bayelsa State.

The 90-year-old was abducted on Wednesday morning at her residence in Opolo-Epie, Yenagoa.

Neighbours of the nonagenarian verbalized Florentina was being abducted for the second time in four years.

It was learnt that the abductors came at about 3am.

A security source verbally expressed the kidnappers were five in number and were armed with AK-47 and other rifles.

The source, who did not optate his designation mentioned, verbally expressed, “They came through the main road. They drove into the community and commenced shooting sporadically into the air. They seized the geriatric woman and whisked her away to an unknown place.”

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara, corroborated the development and verbally expressed one of the suspected kidnappers had been apprehended.

The commissioner verbalized, “Although the report got to the police after the kidnappers had gone, we immediately swung into action and apprehended one suspect who is already availing the police in investigation and we hope that in no distant time, the victim would be rescued.”
