Eagles can shock France –Babalade, Baruwa

Ex-internationals Ajibade Babalade and Abiodun Baruwa are backing the Super Eagles to beat France to reach the quarterfinals of Brazil 2014 World Cup.

The Eagles and Les Blues will meet in Brasilia on Monday and the former Nigeria duo believe Stephen Keshi’s side have the quality to subdue the 1998 world champions and progress into the next phase of Brazil 2014.

In separate interviews with our correspondent on Thursday, Senegal ’92 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medallist Babalade and ex-Nigeria goalkeeper Baruwa, who heaped accolade on the Eagles for their performance against Argentina on Wednesday despite losing 3-2 to the South American giants, believe the   team could pull off a surprise win over France.

“Anything can transpire in football. This World Cup is plenary of surprises and I believe the Eagles can shock France,” former Shooting Stars advocator Babalade told our correspondent on the telephone on Thursday.

“Nobody gave Costa Rica a chance against Uruguay and Italy but they surprised everyone.

“I optically canvassed France against a 10-man Ecuador and the French team struggled to get a draw against the Ecuadorians, despite parading some of their top stars.

“I cerebrate the Eagles have a chance against them (France); they are superable.”
