A a 38-year-old man was detained by the police on suspicion of ravishment at Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
It was amassed that the suspect identified only as John is a resident of Ugboju in Oturkpo Local Government Area in Benue State assailed and sexually assaulted a 82-year-old woman, a native of Umunira Okposi community.
The malefactor was apprehended on Sunday, June 8, and later paraded at the police headquarters in Abakiliki. According to the information provided by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the sate, Mr Chris Anyanwu, besides ravishing the victim the offender withal glommed the woman of N8,500 mazuma.
The incident occurred when the aged woman had boarded a commuter bus from Enugu to Okposi and when it arrived to the final destination, the ravisher waited till all the passengers leave the bus, dragged the geriatric lady to the rear side of the conveyance and ravished her. PPRO reports that after being detained the suspect confessed to the malefaction.
