FUNAAB VC frowns on plagiarism

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, has described plagiarism as an academic fraud.

The VC, who withal described it as an uncomely development, verbally expressed it was ethically and morally erroneous to engage in it.

Oyewole verbally expressed this at the just-concluded seminar organised by the College of Plant Science and Crop Production in the university.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Felix Salako, represented him on the occasion.

According to the VC, plagiarism erodes originality of conceptions and is penalizable by either suspension or expulsion in the university.

The resoluteness of the university to fight plagiarism, he integrated, resulted in the institution subscribing to Turnitin, software developed to check plagiarism.

Delivering the lecture entitled, Mitigating the Practice and Peril of Plagiarism: Turnitin Before Turning Out, Prof. Isaac Daniel of the Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology of COLPLANT, verbalized plagiarism had several definitions.

Plagiarism, he verbally expressed, was both an ethical and civil offence as it bordered on mendacious claim.
