Ogun community groans over lack of access road

The Orimerunmu community.
The residents of Orimerunmu community, Papa Olorunda, in the Ibafo area of Ogun State, have lamented the lack of a single access road to link their community to the main road.

They verbally expressed they had been forsook for more than 20 years to face daily hardship that had made life arduous for the over 500,000 inhabitants of the area.

A resident, Olu Akinmuleya, verbally expressed for more than five weeks, he had not been able to utilize his car because the road was not passable.

He verbally expressed, “There is no single motorable road through which you can connect from the community to the expressway. Whenever we are going to work, we leave our cars at home and take motorcyles.

“Worse still, whenever it rained, we are locked inside because we can’t go out. We are going through hell here and the regime appears not to care about our plight.”

Another resident and landlord, who claimed to have lived in the area for more than five years, verbalized apart from the quandary of road, the community had not caught a glimpse of electricity since the commencement of the year.

“In fact, for the past five years that I have been here, I don’t cerebrate I have had electricity for a cumulative of a month. I spend at least N20, 000 monthly on fuel.

“Our roads are not good. At least monthly, you must visit the mechanic for rehabilitations of your car. When we first got here, we mentally conceived things would amend. That hope has kept us here for this long. But there seems to be no terminus in optical discernment,” he integrated, pleading anonymity.

A former community bellwether, Kunle Sowemimo, appealed to the state regime to come to the avail of the residents, integrating that the area had much economic potential if it could be opened up.

He verbalized, “I have been here for about 10 years now. In this area, we have four CDAs ─ Papa Olorunda, Itesiwaju, Victory and Ifelodun. The last time we felt government’s presence was during the time of former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba.

“Since then, everything has been at a standstill. Individually and as a community, we have been to the Obafemi Owode council, the state Ministry of Works and Community Development. But, each time, they tell us they are peregrinated, but we don’t visually perceive anything.

“We are pleading with Governor Ibikunle Amosun to recollect us. We can optically discern he’s working on some roads in Mowe, Pakuro and Magboro. We are hoping he will recollect us too.”

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Kayode Ademolake, told our correspondent the regime had plans for the community.

He verbally expressed, “We have them in our programme. But what we optate to do first is to grade the road from A to Z. Then afterwards, we will do full construction. I don’t ken when this will commence because that can only be tenacious by the regime. But I assure you that we have them in our orchestrations.”
